ONE YEAR FULL TIME COURSE – 120 CREDIT HOURS – VALIDATED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF WEST LONDON.

The BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Performance Top-Up course will allow emerging musical theatre artists to hone their triple-threat skills through the creation of performance work, reflecting the demands you will face when entering the in industry.

Working with leading professionals across the musical theatre industry, you will train in Acting, Dance and Voice / Singing work, exploring the work of different practitioners and styles. Throughout the year, you will also develop on your skills in self-promotion and academic writing to prepare you for the ever-changing demands of the professional performing arts world.

This programme aims to further your understanding of Musical Theatre performance, allowing you to become a triple-threat practitioner with comprehensive knowledge of the cultural, creative, and technical elements of your art form.

This programme is an intense year of study, consisting of four modules designed to equip you with the transferable skills required to work in the industry. Throughout the year you will undertake a series of projects that support you to develop and maintain relevant repertoire for auditions, through to performing in musical theatre shows, directed and lead by experienced industry experts.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Degree / HND in Musical Theatre or Level 5 Equivalent in a related subject

If English is not your first language you will require a recognised Level 2 English language qualification or an IELTS score of 6.0 (with 5.5 minimum in each skill) or an equivalent English Language qualification..

You will be required to undertake an audition that looks at each of the disciplines before you are offered a place on the course.

Assessment Models

Assessments will be conducted through real-life experiences with professional directors, musical directors, choreographers and employers as well as performances, classroom studies, workshops, mixed media portfolios, presentations, and reflective writing.

Progression Route

In addition to preparing you for your professional career in Musical Theatre, the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre Performance (Top-Up) will allow you to progress to post-graduate qualifications such as MA, PhD, and teaching courses such as the PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and the CertEd (Certificate in Education).  

This course is fully funded by Student Finance England and a discretionary maintenance loan can be applied for to support living expenses.
